John Sparagana’s work has been shown internationally, most recently with exhibitions in Los Angeles, Berlin, Chicago, Houston, New York, and Zürich, and is included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago; Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO; Smart Museum of Art/The University of Chicago; Denver Art Museum, Kunsthalle Bielfeld, Bielfeld, Germany; Sheldon Museum of Art, Lincoln, NE; Smith College Museum of Art, and Fine Arts Museum System of San Francisco: Legion of Honor, de Young Museum, & Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts.
Sparagana received his M.F.A. from Stanford University in 1987 and has been on the faculty at Rice University in Houston since 1989 as Grace Christian Vietti Chair in Visual Arts and Chair of the Department of Art.
