Press Release

Corbett vs. Dempsey is delighted to announce its participation in Place des Vosges, a consortium of international galleries exhibiting at 26 Place des Vosges in Paris, October 14-19, 2024. Exhibiting in one of the iconic buildings surrounding the beautiful green environs of the oldest square in Paris, CvsD is presenting an array of works by five artists: Sadie Benning, Christina Forrer, Arturo Herrera, Gina Litherland, and Robert Lostutter.

Recent cut paper collage works by Benning and painted books by Herrera both deal with a potent and highly structured approach to abstraction, their modest scale in an inverse relation to their impact. Forrer's vibrant tapestries operate on the razor's edge between whimsy and menace, as do Lostutter's immaculate watercolors, all from the early 1970s, in which figures meld with architectural design to create angular hybrid creatures. Litherland's two ultra-precise Magic Realist paintings introduce a literary, narrative element, their radiant female protagonists residing in a charmed natural world apart from the everyday.

Other participating galleries at Place des Vosges include Chris Sharp (Los Angeles), Kate McGarry (London), Kerlin Gallery (Dublin), Linn Lühn (Düsseldorf), Galerie Mayer Kainer (Vienna), Michael Benevento (Los Angeles), and The Approach (London).
