Rebecca Shore new works exhibited in not cancelled

CHICAGO – As part of not cancelled, a week-long online showcase for Chicago galleries, Corbett vs. Dempsey is delighted to present a selection of new work by Rebecca Shore

A rigorous painter and materials-and-techniques master, Shore’s work over the last three decades has extended and transformed classic components of Imagism – fetish finish, exactitude of form, iconographic multivalence – into something uniquely personal and new. Each of the nine previously unseen canvases and works on paper in this special presentation has a gem-like quality, many of them taking on as subject matter peculiarities of light and color in the facets of precious stones. Bilateral symmetry suggests a face of sorts, its features congealing out of loosely strewn hooks and strands, then it disappears into abstraction, absorbed into a rhythmic pattern of lines and forms.
