DIJON, FRANCE – Brian Calvin’s first museum solo show in France. Presented at Le Consortium in Dijon, End of Messages illustrates Calvin’s mastery of framing and color through portrait and landscape paintings from 1995 to the present.
Born in 1969 in Visalia, California, Brian Calvin is an American artist who has gained a reputation as the painter of “pausing-as-an-activity.” Using a matte palette and skewed cropping in portraits, landscapes, facial features, and reflections, he creates a space that hovers between states of abstraction and figuration.
The exhibition, curated by Eric Troncy, will travel to Mu.Zee, Ostend, Belgium, from October 24, 2015 – January 17, 2016.
