For the fifth edition of The Big Dig, Corbett vs. Dempsey is pleased to present Magalie Guérin • The Lekeitio Drawings.

Focused on a group of some 20 ink, watercolor, and gouache works that Guérin made as a guest at Albert Oehlen's studio in Spain in 2019, and featuring a conversation between the artist and John Corbett, The Lekeitio Drawings explores Guérin's working process, uncovering ways that this exceptional body of work sheds light on her overall modus and motivations. Guérin's recent solo exhibitions include Amanda Wilkinson Gallery, London (2020), Galerie Nicolas Robert, Montreal (2019), and Chapter NY, New York (2019).

Born of nerdy fascination, each edition of The Big Dig descends into the rabbit-hole of a tight curatorial concept, excavating a body of work, a thematic idea or a particular medium, a new development or a historical moment. Exclusive images, interviews and essays provide works the kind of rich sense of context that ethnographers refer to as "thick description."
