Press Release

In the Main Gallery-Gina Litherland the Murmur of Pearls. In the East Wing, Corbett vs. Dempsey presents a show of eight graphite and ink drawings by Bart Johnson. Johnson attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He creates drawings that are fantastic both in their subject matter and execution, showing landscapes populated by dozens of bizarre hybrid creatures and architectural structures both great and small. With each element rendered in obsessive black and white detail, the sweeping scenes (six of which constitute a single large piece) are a perfect counterpoint to Litherland’s jewel-like, equally surreal paintings.
