Corbett vs. Dempsey presents… Sequesterfest (Vol. 7)
Hamid Drake & Ken Vandermark
Saturday, October 9th 2021, 7:00 pm (CT) via live stream here
As a special show finale, on Saturday, October 9, at 7pm (CT), musicians Ken Vandermark (reeds) and Hamid Drake (drums) will perform a concert live in the gallery, amid the Organic Music Society tapestries, inspired by Moki's artwork and featuring the compositions of Don Cherry. Drake has a long history with Cherry's music, having played frequently with the pioneering elder musician. Vandermark has long acknowledged Cherry as a key inspiration, and together he and Drake have played Cherry's music in the collective trio DKV, with bassist Kent Kessler. They have worked together extensively over the past 25 years, but this is only the third time Drake and Vandermark have played in a duo context, and it's the first opportunity for them to do so with Don Cherry's music as the focal point. The concert is being streamed live as Sequesterfest Vol. 7, CvsD's ongoing contribution to the Experimental Sound Studio's Quarantine Concert Series. Hop online for what promises to be a transformative musical event.
Watch the live stream here on October 9th at 7pm (CT).
