Los Angeles, CA 90004
Corbett vs. Dempsey and The Brick present renowned guitarist Jeff Parker in a rare solo concert at the kunsthalle-esque space in Koreatown, amid Gregg Bordowitz's exhibition This Is Not a Love Song. Parker is one of the most beloved contemporary American jazz musicians, and is equally engaged with funk, soul, electronic music, rock, post-rock. He is known for his solo projects as well as his part in the bands Tortoise, Isotope 217, and the Chicago Underground Quartet.
Following Parker's performance, an esteemed consortium of vinyl enthusiasts will convene to play and discuss creative guitar music. Needle-dropping a few of their favorite cuts, Parker, Damon Locks (of Black Monument Ensemble, the Eternals, Exploding Star Orchestra), sculptor Ricky Swallow, and gallerist/curator John Corbett will participate in a "turntable roundtable."
