Jason Adasiewicz & Rob Mazurek, vibraphone and trumpet duets. This event is part of our programming for the exhibition Hubcap Diamond Star Halo: Corbett vs. Dempsey at Twenty.
Some cycles have long intervals.
Jason Adasiewicz and Rob Mazurek worked together extensively over the course of a decade. They were thick as thieves. Adasiewicz's vibraphone was an essential ingredient in Mazurek's Exploding Star Orchestra, he was one third of the trumpeter's band Starlicker and appeared on several other records and in many projects with Mazurek. But the two have not played together much at all since Mazurek left Chicago for his new home in Marfa, Texas, in 2015. In this special concert at CvsD, with whom both Adasiewicz and Mazurek have recent releases, the internationally acclaimed improvisors will reconvene for a set of duets which promises to bring thunder and lightning and all manner of interactional action.
Some cycles are worth waiting for.
