This event is part of our programming for the exhibition Hubcap Diamond Star Halo: Corbett vs. Dempsey at Twenty.
Please join us at Corbett vs. Dempsey for an intimate conversation with artist Charline von Heyl. In the environs of the current exhibition, Hubcap Diamond Star Halo, which includes a stunning new painting of hers, von Heyl and gallerist John Corbett plan to have an open-ended discussion starting with the concept of the center and the periphery in the realm of creative production.
Von Heyl (b. 1960, Mainz, Germany) is simply one of the most adventurous and extraordinary contemporary painters. Widely admired for her formal experimentation and willingness to put an image through its paces, she was the subject of a major survey, Snake Eyes, in 2018 at the Diechtorhallen Hamburg and the Hirshhorn Museum of Art, Washington, DC. Corbett vs. Dempsey has mounted three solo exhibitions with von Heyl, most recently in 2021. Von Heyl lives and works in New York City and Marfa, Texas.
